Jesse Darling’s practice is concerned with the human condition and how it is mediated through the structures, narratives and technologies that govern lived experience. Considering the social and physical body as a site where architectural, [bio]political and social structures manifest and become transformed, JD works in sculpture, installation, text and ‘dasein by design’ Their work has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally. Recent projects include solo presentation The Great Near at Arcadia_Missa in 2016, a study week on ritual and practice devised for Wysing Arts Centre (also 2016), a new commission for MoMA Warsaw (2016) and the sound performance NTGNE for Serpentine Park Nights in 2015. Group shows include exhibitions at MoMA Warsaw (2014, 2016), Hessel Museum, NY, David Roberts Art Foundation, Sultana, Paris (all 2016); MOT Projects, UK; Salzburger Kunstverein, AT; Artspace, NZ; and Wysing Arts Centre, UK (all 2015). JD has published their texts in print and online including The Best British Poetry 2015 (Salt Press); Mass Effect: Art and the Internet in the 21st Century (MIT Press, 2015); Art After the Internet (Cornerhouse Books, 201 4) as well as Rhizome, Art Papers and others. JD also teaches at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam.
