Adel Abdessemed (born 1971) is a French artist, living in London.He studied in Batna, Algiers and Lyon, and he was artist-in-residence at the Cité internationale des Arts, Paris, and at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York. The artist has also lived and worked in Berlin. In 2016, Abdessemed was invited to Avignon Festival for the exhibition/conversation Surfaces, while his work was commissioned by Bold Tendencies, in Peckham, London. He has participated in the Venice Biennale (2015, 2007 and 2003) while in 2012, his work was presented in a major solo exhibition at Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Adel Abdessemed Je suis innocent. His works are also hosted in numerous important collections worldwide. Future exhibitions include the Oku-Noto Triennale in Suzu, Japan; Lujiazui, Shanghai; and at the Musée des beaux-arts in Montréal.
