Walter Murch has been editing picture and mixing film soundtracks for nearly half a century, having started on Francis Coppola’s The Rain People in 1969. His films include all three Godfathers, American Graffiti, THX-1138, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, Return to Oz, The English Patient, Touch of Evil, Talented Mr. Ripley, K-19, Cold Mountain, Jarhead, and numerous others. He has written one book on film editing, In the Blink of an Eye, and was the subject of Michael Ondaatje’s The Conversations. He has also translated the work of Curzio Malaparte, The Bird that Swallowed its Cage (2012).
